Down syndrome from a father's perspective.

Reason #321 why Treyton rocks!

Zoo-Phonics Treyton Style

The video embedded below depicts the fun that Treyton has brought to our family; the kid is awesome.  It is this type of joy that I want other parents of kids with Down syndrome to see.  There is way too much information out there about the challenges that come with the Down syndrome diagnosis and not enough about the joy and happiness.

New school

Shortly after Treyton turned three he started a new school; he really seems to like it.  His mother and I feel good about this new school because we have gotten the impression that the teachers and staff that work with Treyton have taken the time to appreciate Treyton for the amazing kid that he is.  For any teacher reading this I want to point out how important it is for a parent of a child with special needs to see you understanding the unique contribution their child has to offer.  You have a lot of kids of varying abilities but each one has something special to offer.  Anyway, Treyton is having fun at his new school and seems to be learning a lot.

Treyton shows off his book knowledge

I have known for a long time that Treyton really likes music and if there is a song with motions that is even better.  Well the other day one of Treyton’s teachers mentioned to my wife that he was picking up on the motions to the Zoo-Phonics song.  Out of curiosity Leigh Ann found the song on YouTube and played it for Treyton.

Fun for all

Take a look at this video of Treyton doing the motions for Zoo-Phonics.  I am not sure if they are all the correct motions but he sure gets into it and is very intentional about his motions.  Look how much fun his mom and sisters are having as well.  This is just one example of the many fun things that Treyton does.
